About Dr. Usama EL-Awad

Dr. Usama EL-Awad is a psychologist and researcher working across clinical, developmental and migration-related contexts. His research focuses on trauma and trauma-related consequences, child and adolescent mental health, migration and acculturation, resilience, psychological adjustment, well-being, and child protection.

Since July 2026, he has served as Co-Lead of the Research Section Trauma Consequences and Child Protection at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He is also affiliated with the Department of Psychology at Bielefeld University.
